Yesterday, my thoughts about work and my life reached their lowest point: I’m ready to give up on everything as soon as an opportunity arises. This decision doesn’t stem from a desire to experience something new, but rather from an urge to escape the negative feelings that come from struggling so hard to achieve material security through my creativity (which draws on my emotions and attention to produce things).
The Devil represents material bondage and illusory temptation: certain choices made under its influence, dignified by the element of Earth, may seem like liberation but ultimately lead to further entanglement.
In the body position today, it seems to be telling me that perhaps I can’t trust the feelings of relief I’m seeking, because they originate from a mind driven by scarcity rather than genuine relief arising from an abundance of choices (or a healthier range of emotions).
This seems to be confirmed by the Ten of Pentacles reversed in the mind position. The same card appeared yesterday in the body position, also reversed, weakening the dignity of the element of Earth.
While yesterday it seemed to suggest that I was feeling physically drained because of this scarcity, today it tells me that I risk becoming mentally drained under the influence of illusions of loss, boredom, and the hopelessness that follows.
In the spirit position, however, there is the Knight of Cups reversed, representing the element of Water in an ill-dignified state and signifying my purpose’s resistance to taking action out of a sense of responsibility toward my commitments, but without my heart being in it. There is resentment, dissatisfaction, and an obvious emotional detachment.
The reading is negative overall because it reflects exactly how I feel, how I think, and how I’m inclined to act today: through avoidance.
